Urine Bladder Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-aponeurosis of latissimus muscle of the back-superficial layer of thoracolumbar fascia-erector spinal muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the cutaneous branches of the posterior branches of the 4th and 5th lumbar ner es and the accompanying arteries and veins. In the deep layer, there are the muscular branches of the posterior branches of the 4th and 5th lumbar nerves and the branches or tributaries of the dorsal branches of the related lumbar arteries and veins.


Location:
Lie pronely; firstly, locate YaoyangguanGV3(Yaoyangguan (GV3)) which is on the lower border of the 4th lumbar vertebra, 1.5 cun apart fromYaoyangguanGV3(GV3) laterally.
Function:
Regulating the function of the intestines, strengthening the loins and legs.


Indications:
Lumbago, sacro-iliilis, spasm of sacrospinal muscle, sciatica, enteritis, dysentery, constipation, infantile dyspepsia, appendicitis, intestinal hemorrhage, gonorrhea, enuresis, nephritis, and beriberi.


Prescription:
Combined use with XingjianLR2 (Xingjian (LR2) Ying-Spring Point) for treatmen of acute ileus; with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatmen of acute appendicitis; with TianshuST25 (Tianshu (ST25) Front-Mu Point of the Large Intestine) for treatmen of constipation; with ShenshuBL23 (Shenshu (BL23)) for the treatment of lingering Diarrhea and dyspepsia; and with PangguangshuBL28 (Pangguangshu (BL28)), ShenshuBL23 (BL23), ShangliaoBL31 (Shangliao (BL31)), CiliaoBL32 (Ciliao (BL32)), ZhongliaoBL33 (Zhongliao (BL33)), XialiaoBL34 (Xialiao (BL34)), ChengfuBL36 (Chengfu (BL36)), YinmenBL37 (Yinmen (BL37)), HuiyangBL35 (Huiyang (BL35)), GuanyangCV4 (Guanyuan (CV4) Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine), DahengSP15 (Daheng (SP15)), SanyinjiaoSP6 (Sanyinjiao (SP6)) for treatmen of urocystitis.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 0.8-1.5 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension, radiating toward the lower region; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
