Urine Bladder Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-long head of biceps muscle of thigh and semitendinous muscle.
In the superficial layer, there is the posterior femoral cutaneous nerve. In the deep layer, there are the sciatic nerve and the accompanying artery and vein and the perforating branches of the de p femoral artery.


Location:
Lie pronely; draw a line connecting ChengfuBL36(Chengfu (BL36)) and WeizhongBL40(Weizhong (BL40) He-Sea Point, Lower Confluent Point), at the juncture of the upper three-seveths and the lower four-sevenths.
Function:
Relaxing the muscles and tendons and activating the flow of qi and blood in the channels and collaterals, and strengthening loins and limbs.


Indications:
Backache, sciatica, paralysis of the lower limbs, poliomyelitis sequelae, inflammation in the femoral region.


Prescription:
Combined use with QuchiLI11 (Quchi (LI11) He-Sea Point) for treatment of chorea; with ShenshuBL23 (Shenshu (BL23)) for treatment of lumbar muscle strain; and with HuiyangBL35 (Huiyang (BL35)) for treatment of coccyalgia.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 1-2 cun deep; needling response: an electric-shock sensation radiating toward the foot; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
