Stomach Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-anterior sheath of rectus muscle of abdomen-rectus muscle of abdomen.
In the superficial layer, there are the lateral and anterior cutaneous branches of the anterior branches of the 9th to 11th thoracic nerves of the periumbilical venous network. In the deep layer, there are the anastomotic branches of the superior and inferior epigastric arteries and veins and the muscular branches of the anterior branches of the 9th to 11th thoracic nerves.


Location:
Supine position; 2 cun apart from umbilicus laterally.
Function:
Adjusting the Functions of the stomach and intestines, regulating Qi, regulating menstruation, and removing stagnancy.


Indications:
Abdominal pain and distension, borborygmus, pain around the umbilicus, constipation, Diarrhea, dysentery, irregular menstruation, and edema.


Prescription:
Combined use with FenglongST40 (Fenglong (ST40) Luo-Connecting Point), LiduiST45 (Lidui (ST45) Jing-Well Point), XianguST43 (Xiangu (ST43) Shu-Stream Point) and ChongyangST42 (Chongyang (ST42) Yuan-Source Point) for treatment of edema; with DaimaiGB26 (Daimai (GB26)) and SanyinjiaoSP6(Sanyinjiao (SP6)) for treatment of rregularmenstruationand with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of enteritis, dysentery and ascariasia


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 0.5-1.0 cun deep, needling response local sensation of distension and heaviness, radiating throughout the side of the abdomen moxibustion: using 7-15 moxa-cones, mild moxibustion for 10-20 min.
