Urine Bladder Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-greatest gluteal muscle-long head of biceps muscle of thigh and semitendinous muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the branches of the posterior femoral cutaneous nerve and the inferior clunial nerve. It the deep layer, there are the trunk of the posterior femoral cutaneous nerve, the sciatic nerve and the accompanying arteries and veins.


Location:
Lie pronely; at the midpoint of the gluteal groove between the thigh and the hip.
Function:
Relaxing muscle and tendons and activating the flow of qi and blood in the channels and collaterals, improving the movement of bowels and inducing diuresis.


Indications:
Backache, hemorrhoid, sciatica, paralysis the lower limbs, poliomyelitis sequelae, constipation, uroschesis, inflammation in the buttocks.


Prescription:
Combined use with ChengshanBL57 (Chengshan (BL57)) for treatment of sciatica; with JuliaoGB29 (Juliao (GB29)) for treatment of gluteal fascitis; with ZusanliST36(Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of myasthemia gravis.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 1-2 cun deep; needling response: an electric-shock sensation radiating toward the foot; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
