Spleen Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-external oblique muscle of abdomen-internal oblique muscle of abdomen-transverse muscle of abdpmen.
In the superficial layer, there are the lateral cutaneous branches of the anterior branches of the 9th to 11th thoracic nerv s and triburaries of the thoracoepigastric vein. In the deep layer, there are the muscular branches of the anterior branches of the 9th to 11th thoracic nerves and their accompanying arteries and veins.


Location:
Supine position; 4 cun laterally apart from the umbilicus ( ShenqueCV8(Shenque (CV8))).
Function:
Warming the middle jiao to dispel cold, recuperating the intestine and stomach.


Indications:
Abdominal pain and distension, Diarrhea, dysentery, and constipation.


Prescription:
Combined use with QihaiCV6 (Qihai (CV6)) for treatment of enteritis; with SanyinjiaoSP6 (Sanyinjiao (SP6)) for treatment of annexitis; with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of intestinal ascariasis; with TianshuST25 (Tianshu (ST25) Front-Mu Point of the Large Intestine) and ZusanliST36 (ST36) for treatment of acute intestinal obstruction.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 0.7-1.0 cun deep; needling response: local sensation of distension; moxibustion: using 5-10 moxa-cones, mild moxibustion for 15 min.
