Urine Bladder Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-aponeurosis of latissimus muscle of the back-superficial layer of thoracolumbar fascia-erector spinal muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the cutaneous branches of the posterior branches of the 1st and 2nd lumbar nerves and the accompanying arteries and veins. In the deep layer, there are the muscular branches of the posterior branches of the 1st and 2nd lumbar nerves and the branches or tributaries of the dorsal branches of the related lumbar arteries and veins.


Location:
Lie pronely; at the level of the lower border of spinous process of the 1st lumbar vertebra, 1.5 cun apart from XuanshuGV5(Xuanshu (GV5)) laterally.
Function:
Regulating the function of the Sanjiao, clearing water passage, replenishing the primordial qi, and strengthening loins and knee.


Indications:
Hydrops, ascites, uroschesis, gastritis, gastrospasm, anorexia, dyspepsia, vomiting, enteritis, nephritis, enuresis, spermatorrhea, neurasthenia, and lumbago.


Prescription:
Combined use with ShenshuBL23 (Shenshu (BL23)), ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for the treatment of nephritis; with DushuBL16 (Dushu (BL16)), CiliaoBL32 (Ciliao (BL32)) for treatmen of chronic pyelonephritis; with ShenshuBL23 (BL23), QihaishuBL24 (Qihaishu (BL24)), DachangshuBL25 (Dachangshu (BL25)), ShangwanCV13 (Shangwan (CV13)), JiuweiCV15 (Jiuwei (CV15) Luo-Connecting Point), WaiguanTE5 (Waiguan (TE5) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point), ZusanliST36 (ST36), ZhangmenLR13(Zhangmen (LR13)Front-Mu Point of the Spleen, Influential Point of Zang Organs), JingmenGB25 (Jingmen (GB25) Front-Mu point of the Kidney) for treatmen of cholelithiasis; and with YinlingquanSP9(Yinlingquan (SP9) He-Sea Point) for treatmen of enteritis and dysentery.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 0.5-1 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension, radiating inferolaterally; moxibustion: using 3-7 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
Note:
Its related organ is the kidney in the abdominal cavity.
