Self Massage

1. Prescription
Head and Face: Baihui (GV20), Shuigou (GV26).
Arm: Houxi (SI3) Shu-Stream Point, The Eight Confluent Point, Quchi (LI11) He-Sea Point.
Leg: Taichong (LR3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point, Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point, Weizhong (BL40) He-Sea Point, Lower Confluent Point, Heyang (BL55), Chengshan (BL57), Feiyang (BL58), Xuanzhong (GB39) Influential Point of the Marrow, Kunlun (BL60) Jing-River Point, Huantiao (GB30 ), Juliao (ST3), Chengfu (BL36), Yanglingquan (GB34) He-Sea Point, Influential Point of Tendon, Shenmai (BL62) The Eight Confluent Point, Fengshi (GB31), Taixi(KI3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point.
Lumbar and Back Region: Dazhui (GV14), Dazhu (BL11) Influential point of bone, Fengmen (BL12), Shenshu (BL23), Dachangshu (BL25), Mingmen (GV4), Yaoyangguan (GV3), Zhibian (BL54), Zhishi (BL52), Shangliao (BL31), Ciliao (BL32), Zhongliao (BL33), Xialiao (BL34), Yaoyan (extra point), Yaoshu (GV2), Jiaji.


2. Technique of Massage
2.1 Take sitting position, index finger and middle finger press-knead GV20 for 30 seconds, index finger press GV26 for 30 seconds.
2.2 Take sitting position, thumb-press SI3 for 30 seconds, LI11 for 30 seconds, GV14 for 1 minute.
Middle finger press-knead BL11 for 1 minute, BL12 for 1 minute.
2.3 Thumb-press BL40 for 30 seconds, BL55 for 30 seconds, BL58 for 30 seconds.
Thumb pluck GB34 for 8-10 times.
Knead BL57 for 8-10 times, press-knead ST36 for 1 minute.
Finger-press GB39 for 30 seconds, push KI3 to the direction of foot base for 15-20 times.
Finger-press BL60 for 30 seconds, knead LR3 for 30 seconds.
Finger-press BL62 for 30 seconds.
2.4 Take secund lying position, knead GB31 for 1 minute, palm-knead GB30 for 30 seconds.
Index finger-press BL36 for 30 seconds, thumb-press ST3 for 30 seconds.
2.5 Hold leg for 2 minutes.
2.6 Rub-knead leg for 2 minutes.
2.7 Both thumbs press-knead BL23 for 30 seconds, BL25 for 30 seconds.
Palm-rub GV4 for 30 seconds, thumb press-knead GV3 for 30 seconds.
Both palms press-knead BL54 for 30 seconds, both thumbs press-knead BL52 for 30 seconds.
Both palms rub Yaoyan (extra point) for 30 seconds, thumb press-knead GV2 for 30 seconds.
Both fists tap both sides of BL31, BL32, BL33, BL34 for 1 minute.
2.8 Push Jiaji (extra point) on lumbar region from up to down for 15-20 times.
2.9 Rub lumbar-sacral region horizontally until feel warming sensation.
2.10 Palm tap lumbar-sacral region.
2.11 Modification of technique:
2.11.1 Osseous hyperplasia:
2.11.1.1 Press-knead both BL40, BL23, GV3 respectively for 10-20 times, push-rub tenderness points.
2.11.1.2 Stack up two palms, press lumbar region for 3-5 minutes.
2.11.1.3 Palm root or thenar knead hyperplastic region, hold-pinch for 3-5 minutes.
2.11.1.4 Thumb, index finger, middle finger knead hyperplastic region.
2.11.2 Acute lumbar sprain:
2.11.2.1 Both palms knead lumbar region.
2.11.2.2 Thumb or index finger press points on lumbar region (1.5 cun lateral to spinous process of each lumbar vertebra), if sprain happens on the left side you should press right side first, vice versa.
2.11.2.3 Respectively push lumbar region technique (L1 to L5).
2.11.3 Chronic lumbar muscle strain:
2.11.3.1 Both hands rub each other after feel warming sensation, put palm on Yaoyan (extra point) and rub up and down until feel warming sensation.  
2.11.3.2 Palm root knead painful points for 2 minutes.
2.11.3.3 Thumb press-knead KI3, BL60, GB39 for 2 minutes.
