Using acupuncture therapy to restore consciousness and induce resuscitation plus scalp acupuncture in 80 cases of acute apoplexy, Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point, Shuigou (GV26), Jiquan (HT1), Chize (LU5)He-Sea Point, Hegu (LI4) Yuan-Source Point and Weizhong (BL40) He-Sea Point, Lower Confluent Point were selected, plus scalp acupuncture motor, sensation, language and application areas on the side opposite the patient's physical signs for the treatment group. For the 25 cases of the control group, Jianyu (LI15), Quchi (LI11) He-Sea Point, Shousanli (LI10), LI4, Huantiao (GB30 ), Fengshi (GB31), Chengfu (BL36), Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point, Yanglingquan (GB34) He-Sea Point, Influential Point of Tendon, Fenglong (ST40) Luo-Connecting Point, Kunlun (BL60) Jing-River Point, Jiexi (ST41) Jing-River Point, Taichong (LR3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point and other points on the affected limbs were selected. Lianquan (CV23) was also added for difficult speaking. Acupuncture was applied each morning and afternoon for the patients of both groups, with 12 days as a treatment course and an interval of 3 days between courses.

Results: Statistical treatment on the cured cases in the two groups shows that there was an extremely remarkable difference, P<0.005. Also the study showed that shorter treatment course and quicker effect were produced in the treatment group than in the control group. The acupuncture therapy plus scalp acupuncture in treating for restoring consciousness and inducing resuscitation, 80 cases of acute apoplexy with a cure rate of 78.75% by this clinical observation.
