Resolve Phlegm&Stop Cough

1 TASTE
Bitter sweet and slightly cold


2 MERIDIANS
Lung and heart


3 FUNCTIONS
1. To moisten the lungs and resolve phlegm; 2. To stop cough; 3. To clear heat and release nodules


4 INDICATIONS
1. Cough: a) chronic cough due to lung deficiency manifested as dry cough and dry throat-Tendrilled fritillary bulb (Chuan Bei Mu) is used with Ophiopogon root (Maidong) and Glehnia (Sha Shen); b) phlegm-heat cough manifested as yellow and thick sputum-Ten-drilled fritillary bulb (Chuanbeimu) is used with Anemarrhena rhizome (Zhi Mu), Scutellaria root (Huang Qin ) and Trichosanthes fruit (Gua Lou); c) wind -heat cough-Tendrilled fritillary bulb (Chuanbeimu) is used with Mulberry leaf (Sang Ye), Peucedanum root (Qian Hu) and Apricot seed (Xing Ren).2. Scrofula, mastitis and lung abscess: a) scrofula -Tendrilled fritillary bulb (Chuanbeimu) is used with Scrophularia (Xuan Shen) and Oyster shell (Mu Li); b) mastitis-Tendrilled fritillary bulb (Chuanbei-mu) is used with Dandelion herb (Pu Gong Ying ) and Forsythia fruit (Lianqao); c) lung abscess-Tendrilled fritillary bulb (Chuanbeimu) is used with Houttuynia (Yu Xing Cao) and Coix seed (Yi Yi Ren ).


5 DOSAGE
3-10 g


6 COUTIONS
This herb cannot be used with Si-chuan aconite root (Wutou), as they counteract each other
