Meniere's syndrome is Non-specific inflammation of the inner ear syndrome characterized by the symptom of vertigo, we have treated 30 cases by acupuncture.
Differentiation:
Liver and kidney yin deficiency (18 cases): vertigo, tinnitus, failing of hearing ability, weakness and soreness on low back and knee joints, feverish sensation on five centers, red tongue tip with slightly yellow coating, wiry, thready and rapid pulse.
Stirring up of phlegm (12 cases): vertigo, tinnitus, frequent nausea, preference of lying on the bed and afraid of moving, slightly red tongue body with thin and sticky coating, wiry and rolling pulse.
Points selection according to differentiation:
Liver and kidney yin deficiency:
Group A: Fengchi (GB20), Taichong (LR3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point, Xingjian (LR2) Ying-Spring Point (reducing method)
Group B: Baihui (GV20), Yintang, Taixi(KI3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point (reinforcing method)
Moxa to Ganshu (BL18), Shenshu (BL23) and Yongquan (KI1) Jing-Well Point.
Needling on ear points: Adrenal, Liver and Inner Ear.
Stirring up of phlegm:
Group A: Touwei (ST8), Chimai (TE18), Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point (reinforcing method)
Group B: Fengfu (GV16), Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point, XiaXi (GB43) Ying-Spring Point (reducing method)
Moxa to Fenglong (ST40) Luo-Connecting Point, Zhongwan (CV12) Front-Mu Point of the Stomach, Xuehai (SP10)
Needling on ear points: subcortex, spleen and ear-Shenmen (HT7) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Primary Point
Group A and B are alternatively applied and retaining of needles is 30 minutes.
Treatment result:
Total effective rate is 100%. Among 30 patients, patients take at least two times and at most 14 times of treatment with average of 7.4, and we follow all of patients in the following one year, 7 patients repeatedly suffer from Meniere’s syndrome after 6 months, 14 patients after one year, 9 patients not suffered.
