Ma Chi Xian

Clear Heat

1 TASTE
Sour and cold


2 MERIDIANS
Large intestine and liver


3 FUNCTIONS
1. To clear heat and release toxins; 2. To cool the blood and stop dysentery.


4 INDICATIONS
Dysentery manifested as fever, abdominal pain, blood and pus in the stool and tenesmus. Portulaca (Ma Chi Xian) is used with Scutellaria root (Huang Qin) and Coptis root (Huang Lian). Also, Portulaca ( Machkixian) can be taken laone as treament for these symptoms.


5 DOSAGE
30-60 g (Double dosage for the fresh herb).
