3 FUNCTIONS
1. To clear heat and release toxins; 2. To cool the blood and stop dysentery.

4 INDICATIONS
Dysentery manifested as fever, abdominal pain, blood and pus in the stool and tenesmus. Portulaca (Ma Chi Xian [3]) is used with Scutellaria root (Huang Qin [4]) and Coptis root (Huang Lian [5]). Also, Portulaca ( Machkixian) can be taken laone as treament for these symptoms.

5 DOSAGE
30-60 g (Double dosage for the fresh herb).
