Release the Exterior

1 TASTE
Pungent and warm


2 MERIDIANS
Lung and stomach


3 FUNCTIONS
1. To expel wind and release the exterior; 2. To reduce swelling and discharge pus and dampness; 3. To stop pain


4 INDICATIONS
1. Wind-clod exterior syndrome manifested by headache, supraob-ital pain and nasal obstruction. Dahurian angelica root (Bai Zhi) is used with Chinese green onion (Cong Bai), Prepared soybean (Douchi) and Fresh ginger (Sheng Jiang).2. Tick and sticky nasal discharge (as in thinitis, nasosinusitis) Dahurian angelica root (Baizhi) is used with Xanthium fruit (Cang Er Zi) and Magnolia flower (Xinyi) in the formula Canger San.3.Boils, carbuncles, ulceration and skin diseases. Dahurian angelica root (Baizhi) is used with Trichosanthes fruit (Gua Lou), Tendrilled fritillary bulb (Chuan Bei Mu) and Dandelion herb (Pugonying).4. Damp-cold type of leukorrhea manifested as watery, whitish and profuse leukorrhea with no offensive smell. Dahurian angelica root (Baizhi) is used with White atractylodes (Bai Zhu), Cuttlefish bone (Wu Zei Gu) and poria (Fu Ling).5.Damp-heat type of leukorrhea manifested by thick, yellow and profuse leukorrhea with no offensive smell. Dahurian angelica root (Baizhi) and Flavescent sophora root (Ku Shen).


5 DOSAGE
3-10g


6 COUTIONS
This herb is contraindicated in yin deficiency.
