Internal Medicine

66 patients are all out-patients, including 28 males and 38 females. All of them are diagnosed as epilepsy according to electroencephalogram.


Epilepsy is caused by phlegm, therefore, phlegm should be treated first in the treatment. Eliminating phlegm is the key principle to treat epilepsy. The phlegm of epilepsy is difficult to be eliminated. It is obstinate, and can not be treated by common drugs for eliminating phlegm. Ding Xian I is drastic purgatives for relieving mind and calming down spirit, cleaning away phlegm for resuscitation, opening fu-organs and conducting lower energizer. It includes Zhu Sha 2g, Ba Dou 1g, raw Ban Xia 5g and Shi Chang Pu 5g. Be grinded into fine powder; take in 1g with an empty stomach for each time. Oral intake with pulvis or capsule. It should be stopped once the patient got Diarrhea.
Ding Xian II regulates liver and spleen and dispels phlegm and wind. Spleen qi is strengthened, phlegm is cleaned away, wood qi is excited and liver wind is calmed down. The both drugs treat both deficiency and excess by reinforcing and reducing methods and are apposite to pathogenesis, therefore, good effects are received. It includes Bai Ren Shen 40g, Fu Shen 40g, Yu Jin 40g, Shi Chang Pu 60g, Tian Ma 40g, Bei Mu 40g, Jiang Can 40g, Qing Ban Xia 40g and Tian Nan Xing 40g. Be grinded into fine powder, 3 times a day for adults, 6g for once and taking drug following its infusion. Or be decocted, and take it one day after taking Ding XianⅠ. One month treatments are one course.


Treatment results: the total effect is 92.42%.
