Epilepsy is chronic disease features temporality central nervous system dysfunction due to repeated cerebral neurons paradoxical discharge. Generally speaking, liver, kidney, and spleen deficiency is the mainly pathologic bases, which result in phlegm (phlegm fire), wind (liver wind), phlegm (blood stagnation), deficiency (blood deficiency), these are the main factors of this disease. Phlegm evil is the primary root cause of epilepsy. Treatment: Di Tang Zhi Xian Tang, which include Shi Chang Pu 12-30g, Dan Nan Xing 10-20g, Yu Jin 12-15g, Dan Shen 15-30g, Tian Chong 10-20g, Chan Tui 6-15g, Di Long 12-15g, Quan Xie 3-5g, toast Wu Gong 2-4g. Modification according to syndrome differentiation: adding Tian Ma, Ban Xia if there are dizziness with large amount of phlegm; adding Dang Gui, Chuan Xiong if there are blood stagnation obstructing brains collaterals; adding Fu Ling, Dang Shen, Huang Qi if there is heart-spleen deficiency; adding raw Long Gu, raw Mu Li, Zi Bei Chi if there is poor sleep; adding Shu Di Huang, Gou Qi Zi, Shan Zhu Yu if there is liver-kidney yin deficiency; adding Rou Cong Rong, Hu Tao Ren, Suo Yang if there is dry stools with yang deficiency; adding Nu Zhen Zi, Zhi Mu if there is yin deficiency; adding Shan Zha, Ji Nei Jin if there is stomach dysfunction.
