The site of injury is at the insertion of sacrospinal muscles and the lumbar fascia. The characteristic symptoms are severe lumbar pain and movement limitation. Needling on Houxi (SI3) Shu-Stream Point, The Eight Confluent Point through to Hegu (LI4) Yuan-Source Point for treatment has good curative effect. The manipulation of the needle is rotations of large amplitude with moderate lifting and thrusting for 2 minutes to produce a strong stimulation that the patient may handle. Hiccoughs may occur in normal condition, as well as after thoracic or abdominal operations. They may continue for a few hours or even days.
