Traumatology and Orthopedics

Acute lumbar sprain usually comes from torsion of the body when the lumbar muscles are improperly exerted. The site of injury is at the insertion of sacrospinal muscles and the lumbar fascia. The characteristic symptoms are severe lumbar pain and movement limitation. Needling on Houxi (SI3) Shu-Stream Point, The Eight Confluent Point through to Hegu (LI4) Yuan-Source Point for treatment has good curative effect. The manipulation of the needle is rotations of large amplitude with moderate lifting and thrusting for 2 minutes to produce a strong stimulation that the patient may handle.

Hiccoughs may occur in normal condition, as well as after thoracic or abdominal operations. They may continue for a few hours or even days. Treating hiccoughs by mild kneading pressuring plus moxa on bilateral UB2 can have a good result.
