Internal Medicine
1: Spleen and stomach deficiency

Symptoms: Pale or sallow complexion, marasmus, lassitude, poor appetite, abdominal distention after food intake, loose stool, irritability, poor sleeping, small amount of menstruation, pale tongue with white coating, thready and weak pulse.
Treatment principle: To tonify spleen qi and harmonize stomach.
Prescription: Gu Ya 9-12g, Mai Ya 9-12g, Dang Shen 9g, Fu Ling 9g, Ban Xia 9g, Hou Po 4.5-9g, Wei Jiang 3g, He Ye 3g, Xiang Yuan 9g.

Diet therapy in recovery period: 

a:  Gruel of Shan Yao, Qian Shi and yimi: Shan Yao 30g, Qian Shi 15g, Yi Mi 30g, millet or rice 250-300g. Seven days intake is one course, two to three courses are necessary.
b:  Gruel of Huang Qi and gengmi: raw Huang Qi 30g, Geng Mi 60g.
2: Dampness and heat in spleen and stomach
Symptoms: Epigastric distention before food intake, poor appetite, vomiting, dislike of greasy food, foul smell in the mouth, sticky coating with white or yellow coating, soft, rapid or rolling pulse.
Treatment principle: To clear heat and eliminate dampness, to promote triple energizer.

Prescription: Huo Po San Ren Tang for more dampness than heat: Huo Xianggeng 6g, Bai Douren 9g, Xing Ren 9g, Yi Yiren 15g, Chao Zhiqiao 9g, Ju Geng 4.5g, Yu Jin 6g, Huo Po 6g, Cang Zhu 9g, Qing Ban Xia 6g, Fu Ling 9g, Bai Tong Cao 1.2g.

Wu Ye Liu Yi Yin for more heat than dampness: Huo Xiangye 6g, Bo He Ye 4.5g, He Ye 6g, Pi Baye 4.5g, Pei Lanye 10g, Lu Gen 10g, Dong Guaren 10g, Hua Shi 6g(bag), Gan Cao 2.4g.


Diet therapy in recovery period: 

a: Gruel of gengmi and gupikang: Geng Mi 100g, Gu Pikang 40g.
b: Gruel of soybean and xianmi: Soybeans 50, Xian Mi 200g
3: Invasion of stomach by liver qi stagnation:
Symptoms: Hypochondriac and costal pain, fullness on the chest, sighs, poor appetite, hiccups and belching, bitter taste in the mouth and vomiting, dizziness, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrheal, breasts distention before coming of menstruation, thin and yellow tongue coating, wiry and thready pulse.

Treatment principle: To regulate liver qi  and harmonize stomach.
Prescription: Chai Hu 12g, Bai Shao 10g, Dang Gui 10g, Bai Zhu 10g, Fu Ling 10g, Wei Jiang 4.5g, Mai Ya9g, Xiang Yuan 9g, Zhi Gan Cao 6g.

Diet therapy in recovery period: 

a: Gruel of gengmi and hehuanhua: dry He Huanhua 15g, Geng Mi 150g, Crystal Sugar 20g.
b: Gruel of gengmi and rose flower: white rose flower 5, Geng Mi 120g, cherry 10, suitable amount of white sugar.
c: Gruel of foshougan: Fo Shougan 30g, Geng Mi 100g.

4: Spleen and kidney yang deficiency

Symptoms: Pale complexion, shortness of breadth, lazy speech, lassitude, aversion to cold, chills, abdominal distention or pain, edema, poor appetite, tasteless in the mouth, indigestion, Diarrhea in the day-break, pale and flabby tongue, deep, theady and weak pulse specially weak in chi region.

Treatment principle: To warm up spleen and kidney yang.
Prescription: Red Ginseng 4.5 to 9g, Bai Zhu 9g, Fu Ling 9g, Bu Guzhi 9g, Rou Doukou 9g, Ba Jirou 10g, Hu Luba9g, Sheng Jiang 3 pieces, Da Zao 3, Zhi Gancao 6g, Chao Shan Zha 10g.

Diet therapy in recovery period: 
a: Gruel of shanyao and mutton: mutton 25g, fresh Shan Yao 100g, Nuo Mi 100g. 
b: Gruel of hutao: He Tao Ren 50g, soybeans 100g, Bai Ji 10g, Bai Zhu 10g, rice 200g, suitable amount of white sugar.

5: Stomach yin deficiency

Symptoms: Poor appetite, dry mouth with preference to drink water, dry lip and tongue, hiccups, dry stool, irritability, red tongue with scanty coating or no coating, deep, thready and rapid pulse.

Treatment principle: To moisten stomach and clear heat.
Prescription: Sang Ye 4.5g, Shan Shen 9g, Mai Dong10g, Yu Zhu 10g, Bian Dou 6g, Ma Ren 6g, Chuan Shi Hu 10g, Wu Mei 9g, Lu Gen 15g, Mai Ya9g, Sheng Gancao 4.5g, crystal sugar 1.

Diet therapy in recovery period: 
a: Gruel of yiner: Yin Er 15g, date 5 pieces, Geng Mi 30g
b: Gruel of shihu: fresh Shi Hu 30g, Geng Mi 60g, suitable amount of crystal sugar  c: Gruel of Yu Zhu and shidi: Yu Zhu 20g, Shi Di 10g, Geng Mi 60g
