1 Clinical data
  There are 1,000 patients in this group, male and female are almost same quantity, oldest is 64 years old and youngest is 4, more are middle aged; 220 cases of common cold are within the first 3 days, 550 cases are from 3 to 7 days, 30 cases are more than 7 days; clinical manifestations include headache, body heavy and ache, nasal discharge or obstruction, aversion to cold and fever, fullness on the chest and having desire to vomit, dry mouth, sweating or no sweating.


2 Treatment method
  a: meridians: Ren meridian, GV meridian, Stomach meridian ( running course on chest and abdomen), Urinary Bladder meridan ( running course on back ).
points: Taiyang, Fengchi (GB20), Fengfu (GV16), Quchi (LI11) He-Sea Point, Shousanli (LI10), Baxie, Dubi (ST35), Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point, Bafeng.
  b: manipulation: Patient takes sitting posture, doctor heavily scrape meridians what he chooses until skin color turns to red, he pricks meridian points from up to down by three edged needle, then pricks points on the head and four limbs. Pricking by three edged needle should be superficial and quick with 0.1 cun depth. One time treatment is enough for most patients, one more can be done after two days if first time is not effective.
  c: modification: Baihui (GV20) for headache; Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point, Tiantu (CV22) for fullness on the chest and nausea; Yingxiang (LI20), Lieque (LU7)Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point for cough and nasal discharge or obstruction; Jing-well points for fever. Pricking method given by three edged needle should be performed on all of points.
3 Effect observation
  Effect standard: apply three edged needle treatment no more than times, the symptoms are gone and do not any uncomfortable feeling, will be consider as cure; the symptoms are remarkable improved through 2 times treatment, will be consider as obviously effective; the symptoms are not improved, or need additional medicine treatment through 2 times treatment, or discontinue cases, will be consider as no effect.  


4 Result
For those 220 cases within first 3 days, 198 cases have been cured, 12 cases have obviously effective, 10 cases have no effect; for those 550 cases in 3-7 days, 463 cases have been cured, 62 cases have obviously effective, 25 cases have no effect; for those 30 cases suffering 7 days or more, 10 cases have been cured, 11 cases have obviously effective, 9 cases have no effect.
