Kidney Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-long flexor muscle of toes-posterior side of posterior tibial muscle-long flexor of great toe.
In the superficial layer, there are the medial cutaneous branches of the suphenous nerve to the leg and the tributaries of the great suphenous vein. In the deep layer, there are the tibial nerve and the posterior tibial artery and vein.


Location:
Upright sitting or supine position; firstly, locate FuliuKI7(Fuliu(KI7) Jing-River Point), 0.5 cun anterior to FuliuKI7(KI7). Or, at the midpoint connecting FuliuKI7(KI7) and the posterior border of the medial side of tibia.
Function:
Regulating menstruation and the function of lower-jiao, and removing obstruction from the channels and collaterals.


Indications:
Irregular menstruation, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, inertia of uteri, uroschesis, gonorrhea, orchitis, dysentery, enteritis, constipation, peritonitis, myelitis, pain in the medial side of the lower limbs.


Prescription:
Combined use with GuanyuanCV4 (Guanyuan (CV4) Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine) for treatment of dysfunctional uterine bleeding; with TianshuST25 (Tianshu (ST25) Front-Mu Point of the Large Intestine), ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for the treatment of enteritis; and with ZhongduLR6 (Zhongdu (LR6) Xi-Cleft Point), DajuST27 (Daju (ST27)), and QuguCV2 (Qugu (CV2)) for the treatment of swelling of the scrotum.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 0.6-1.2 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
