Stomach Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-anterior sheath of rectus muscle of abdomen-rectus muscle of abdomen.
In the superficial layer, there are the lateral and anterior cutaneous branches of the anterior branches of the 10th to 12th thoracic nerves of the superficial epigastric and vein. In the deep layer, there are the branches or tributaries of the inferior epigastric artery and vein and muscular branches of the anterior branches of the 10th to 12th thoracic nerves.


Location:
Supine position; 2 cun below the level of umbilicus, 2 cun apart from the midline of the abdomen laterally .
Function:
Reinforcing the kidney, tonifying the flow of qi and tranquilization.


Indications:
Lower abdominal distension, dysuria, hernia, seminal emission, and prospermia.


Prescription:
Combined use with SanyinjiaoSP6 (Sanyinjiao (SP6)) and GuanyuanCV4 (Guanyuan (CV4) Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine) for treatment of emission; with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of enteritis; and with DijiSP8 (Diji (SP8) Xi-Cleft Point) and ZhongduLR6 (Zhongdu (LR6) Xi-Cleft Point) for treatment of hernia


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 0.5-1 cun deep; needling response: local sensation of distension and heaviness, radiating throughout the side of the abdomen; moxibustion: using 7-15 moxa-cones, mild moxibustion for 15 min.
