Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-ulnar flexor muscle of wrist-deep flexor muscle of fingers-interosseous membrane of forearm.
In the superficial layer, there are the medial cutaneous nerve of the forearm and the tributaries of the basilic vein. In the deep layer, there are the ulnar artery and vein and ulnar nerve.
Location:
Raise the hand; 5 cun above YangguSI5 (Yanggu (SI5) Jing-River Point), on the line connecting YangguSI5 (SI5) , and XiaohaiSI8 (Xiaohai (SI8) He-Sea Point), on the medial side of ulna.
Function:
Tranquilizing and removing obstruction in the channels and collaterals.
Indications:
Neck rigidity, headache, dizziness, spasmodic pain in the elbow and fingers, febrile diseases, and mania.
Prescription:
Combined use with QuchiLI11 (Quchi (LI11) He-Sea Point) and ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of flat warts and acne; with YamenGV15 (Yamen (GV15)) for treatment of schizophrenia; with SanjiaoshuBL22 (Sanjiaoshu (BL22)) for treatment of dizziness and headache; with NeiguanPC6 (Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point) and YangxiLI5 (Yangxi (LI5) Jing-River Point) for treatment of spasm; with YujiLU10 (Yuji (LU10) Ying-Spring Point), HeguLI4 (Hegu (LI4) Yuan-Source Point), ShaohaiHT3 (Shaohai (HT3) He-Sea Point), QuchiLI11 (LI11) and WanguSI4 (Wangu (SI4) Yuan-Primary Point) for treatment of ravings.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 0.5-1.0 cun deep; needling response: local sensation of distension, radiating to the hand; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
