Scalp Acupuncture

The pathological lesions in cerebral blood vessels, such as atherosclerosis, are considered to be one pathogenetic factor for cerebral thrombosis; the increasing of coagulation of blood as well as the reduction of blood flow are considered as other factors. The onset of diseases can be either slow or prompt, and in some cases there are prodromal symptoms, such as headache and dizziness. Due to the pathological lesions occurring at the different locations, the clinical symptoms are different.

The Selection of Stimulation: motor area, sensory area, motor and sensory area of foot on the contra lateral side of the physical symptoms.

After the diagnosis is confirmed, once the acute symptoms are under controlled, the scalp acupuncture should be applied as early as possible. It has been proved that scalp acupuncture is an effective therapy for cerebral thrombosis. It can produce an immediate therapeutic result in some cases.

The therapeutic result is also related to the location of the lesion. Scalp acupuncture produces a better therapeutic result for patients with thrombosis in the branches of the middle and anterior cerebral arteries, and a poorer therapeutic result in patients with thrombosis in the main trunk and deeper branches of the artery.

The prodromal symptoms may last a longer time in some cases. If they can be discovered and prevented at the earlier time, the condition can be brought under control.
