Downward Draining

1 TASTE
Pungent, bitter and neutral


2 MERIDIANS
Small and large intestines


3 FUNCTIONS
1. To lubricate intestines and move feces; 2. To promote urination and reduce edema


4 INDICATIONS
1. Constipation due to dryness in the intestines. Bush-cherry seed (Yu Li Ren) is used with Apricot seed (Xing Ren), Peach seed (Tao Ren) and Arborvitae seed (Baiiren) in the formula Wuren Wan.2. Edema. Bush-cherry seed (Yuliren) is used with Mulberry bark (Sang Bai Pi), Phaseolus seed (Chi Xiao Dou) and Imperata rhizome (Bai Mao Gen) in the formula Yuliren Tang.


5 DOSAGE
5-12 g


6 COUTIONS
This herb is contraindicated in cases with depletion of body fluids, or during pregnancy.
