Gallbladder Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-occipital belly of occipifrontal muscle.
There are the greater occipital nerve, the occipital artery and vein, and the posterior auricular branches of the facial nerve in this area.


Location:
Sit upright or lie prostrate on one`s side; vertically above FengchiGB20 (Fengchi (GB20)), at the same level with NaohuGV17(Naohu (GV17)) ( on the upper border of the external occipital protuberance ).
Function:
Expelling wind and clearing heat , inducing resuscitation, and activating the collaterals.


Indications:
Headache, stiffness of the neck, vertigo, painful eyes, tinnitus, and epilepsy.


Prescription:
Combined use with DazhuiGV14 (Dazhui (GV14)) for treatment of epilepsy; and with NeiguanPC6 (Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point) for treatment of schizophrenia.


Methods:
Insert the needle subcutaneously to 0.3-0.5 cun depth; needling response: local distention; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
