Kidney Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-anterior sheath of rectus muscle of abdomen-rectus muscle of abdomen.
In the superficial layer, there are the anterior cutaneous branches of the anterior branches of the 6th to 8th thoracic nerves and the accompanying arteries and veins. In tne deep layer, there are the branches or tributaries of the superior epigadtric artery and vein, the muscular branches of the anterior branches of 6th to 8th thoracic nerves and the related intercostal arteies and veins.


Location:
Supine position; firstly, locate JuqueCV14(Juque (CV14) Front-Mu Point of the Heart) 6 cun vertically above umbilicus, then 0.5 cun lateral to JuqueCV14(CV14).
Function:
Regulating the intestines and stomach, promoting lactation, and recuperating qi and blood.


Indications:
Gastrospasm, chronic gastritis, gastric dilatation, gastric ulcer, intercostal neuralgia, conjunctival congestion, bronchitis, hepatitis, and morning sickness.


Prescription:
Combined use with TiantuCV22 (Tiantu (CV22)) for treatment of nervous vomiting; with NeiguanPC6 (Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point) for treatment of gastrospasm, and intercostal neuralgia; and with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of chronic gastritic.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 0.3-0.7 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension; moxibustion: using 5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
Note:
Youmen (KI21) Don`t puncture deeply, or else the needle would penetrate the posterior wall of vagina musculi recti abdominis-the transverse fascia-the extraperitoneal axungia-the parital
peritoneum-the peritoneal cavity-the visceral peritoneum and the lesser curvature of stomach ( when half filled ) or the anterior border of liver by its tip, and cause an injury to gastric wall and
liver.
