Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-brachioradial muscle-short radial extensor muscle of the wrist-supinator muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the lateral and posterior cutaneous nerves of forearm. In the deep layer, there are the deep branches of the radial nerve.
Location:
Incline the palm, flex the elbow; draw a line connecting YangxiLI5 (Yangxi (LI5) Jing-River Point) and QuchiLI11 (Quchi (LI11) He-Sea Point), a spot on this line, 2/3 apart from YangxiLI5 (LI5), or 1/3 apart from QuchiLI11 (LI11).
Function:
Regulating the intestines and stomach, and restoring normal menstruation in cases of pathological amenorrhea.
Indications:
Abdominal pain, borborygmus, pain in the elbow and arm, motor impairment of the upper limbs.
Prescription:
Combined use with YoumenKI21 (Youmen (KI21)) and TaibaiSP3 (Taibai(SP3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Primary Point) for treatment of Diarrhea with bloody purulent stools; with ShousanliLI10 (Shousanli (LI10)), XiaxiGB43 (XiaXi (GB43) Ying-Spring Point), YujiLU10 (Yuji (LU10) Ying-Spring Point), WeizhongBL40 (Weizhong (BL40) He-Sea Point, Lower Confluent Point), ZulinqiGB41 (Zulinqi (GB41) Shu-Stream Point, The Eight Confluent Point) and ShaozeSI1 (Shaoze (SI1) Jing-Well Point) for treatment of mastitis; with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of indigestion and enteritis; and with HuiyangBL35 (Huiyang (BL35)) for treatment of hemorrhoid.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly or obliquely 0.5-1.0 cun deep; needling response: local distension and soreness, radiating towards the hand; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
