The disease courses of 86 patients are 4 days~11 years and 1.6 months at average; 24 cases attack after being scared, 26 cases attack after getting depressed and angry; 31 cases attack after insomnia; 2 cases attack in the menses period, 2 cases attack after catching cold; and 1 case attacks after surgery of pituitaryadenoma. The diagnosis of hypersomina is symptomatic diagnosis at the present time. Sleepy at any time, wake up when be roused, and then fall into sleep again, worn-out and fatigued. 81 cases are wakefully and barely hanging on, and 5 cases are narcolepsy. The hypersomina caused by pituitary tumors, hypothyroidism or drug poisoning are excluded. Treatments: prescription of Ke Shui Tang: Dang Shen, Wu Wei Zi, Yuan Zhi, fried Suan Zao Ren, Shi Chang Pu and prepared Gan Cao. Modifications according to differentiation: subtract Dang Shen and add Zhi Zi and Mu Dan Pi for liver and gall bladder stagnation of heat; add Dan Shen, Chuan Xiong and Yu Jin for meridians block due to blood stagnation; add Ban Xia, Fu Ling and Chen Pi for dampness of spleen and stagnation of phlegm; add Sheng Di Huang, Shu Di Huang and Nu Zhen Zi for liver and kidney yin deficiency; and add Gui Zhi for heart yang deficiency. Result: the total effective rate is 97.6%.
