Clear Heat

1 TASTE
Bitter and cold


2 MERIDIANS
Heart, liver, lung, stomach and triple jiao


3 FUNCTIONS
1. To clear heat and reduce fired; 2. To cool blood release toxins; 3. To eliminate dampness


4 INDICATIONS
1. Febrile diseases manifested as high fever, irritability, delirium and loss of consciousness. Capejasmine (Zhi Zi) is used with Prepared soybean (Douchi), Forsythia fruit (Lian Qiao) and Scutellaria root (Huang Qin).2. Jaundice with fever and dysuria. Capejasmine (Zhizi) is used with Oriental wormwood (Yin Chen Hao), Rhubard (Da Huang) and Phellodendron bark (Huang Bai).3. Extravasation caused by heat in the blood manifested as vomiting blood, epistaxis and hematuria. Capejasmine (Sheng Di Huang), and Scutellaria root (Huangqin).4. Boils and carbuncles. Capejasmine ( Zhizi) is used with Coptis root (Huang Lian), Scutellaria root (Huangqin) and Honeysuckle flower (Jin Yin Hua).


5 DOSAGE
3-10 g


6 COUTIONS
The herb is contraindicated in cases with weakness of the spleen and Diarrhea.
