The Experience on Vascular Diseases of Acute Onset Treated with Purgation MethodPosted by: admin on Oct 11, 2008 - 09:09 PMVascular diseases of acute onset can have several types according to the traditional Chinese medical differentiation. The most common one is heat stagnation of fu organs. The main features are abdominal distention, dry and hard stool due to constipation, thick and sticky tongue coating, wiry and rolling pulse besides hemiplegia and aphasia, for the more serious one, coma, delirium and restlessness. The treatment should be clearing away heat in fu organs with reducing method to bring the patients through. The best choice is Da Huang. It is common to see that mental is improved in different degree, fever goes, distention of abdomen is relieved, blood pressure reduces, tongue coating turns white and thin from yellow, thick, turbid and sticky, the disease gets better and disease course is shorten after taking Da Huang and 2~3 times defecations. It takes a drastic measure to deal with a situation. Modern medicine thinks that purgation has good preventive and therapeutic effects on cerebral edema, hypertension, stress ulcer and rehaemorrhagia in acute stage of vascular disease. Drugs should be chosen according to conditions of constitutions, degree of pathogens and disease tendency to determine the dose when applying purgation method in clinic. Apply Da Huang for 10~15g and combines with Zhi Shi, Mang Xiao and Hou Po. Apply 3~6g Da Huang for weaker conditions of constitutions and heat stagnations, if necessary, combine with Ren Shen, Huang Qi, Xuan Shen and Sheng Di Huang to benefit qi and nourish yin to dispel pathogens without hurting yin; combine with Gan Jiang and Fu Zi to warm lower abdomen for yin syndromes. Combination with both raw and prepared Da Huang can be applied also to defecate so as not to get hypercatharsis, and the functions of clearing away heat and turbid, activating blood and eliminating blood stasis are given full play.
