There are 336 cases including 160 cases of pain on back and lumbar region, 176 cases of pain on joints. Both of diseases belong to Bi syndrome according to differentiation of TCM. Chronic pain on back, lumbar region and joints here are not caused by family immunity dysfunction, organic diseases, infection diseases, endocrine diseases and metabolism diseases etc. There are 152 male patients and 184 female ( rate of male and female is 1:1.2 ), oldest patient is 73 years old and youngest 7, longest duration of diseases is 30 years and shortest 3 days.
Treatment method given by herbal injection into points: at first, we prefer points mostly located on diseased area. For instance, Shenshu (BL23) and Yao Yan for lumbar region; Tianzong (SI11) for back and scapular region; Jianwaishu (SI14) for region above scapula; Dushu (BL16) and penetration from Tiaokou (ST38) to Chengshan (BL57) on healthy side for region below scapula; Yaoshu (GV2) and penetration from ST38 to BL57 on healthy side for shoulder; Penetration from Quchi (LI11) He-Sea Point to Quze (PC3) He-Sea Point and penetration from ST38 to BL57 on healthy side for elbow; Yanglingquan (GB34) He-Sea Point, Influential Point of Tendon and Penetration from LI11 to PC3 on healthy side for knee; Jiexi (ST41) Jing-River Point, Shangqiu (SP5) Jing-Well Point and penetration from LI11 to PC3 on healthy side for ankle.

Gui Zhi ), we inject 0.5 to 1 ml into every point, injection is done once every day, 5 to 7 times are one course.
Treatment result:
Effect standard ( based on one course ):
Cured: symptoms are disappeared, motor functions become normal;
Obvious effective: pain is almost disappeared, motor dysfunction is mostly relieved;
Improved: pain is reduced, limitation of joints in moving is relieved;
No effect: no improvement after treatment
Treatment result: among 336 patients, cured: 134 (40%); obvious effective: 92 (27.2%); improved: 97(28.8%); no effect: 13(4%), so total effective rate is 96.1%.
Typical case introduction: Mrs. He, 50 years old, she came to hospital because of two years pain on back and lumbar region without any obvious reason, pain becomes worse after overwork and cold invasion. Diagnosis in western medicine is muscle strain. We apply Fu Fang Fang Feng Yeo on SI11, SI14 and BL23 because there are painful sensation when we press the three points mentioned above, we inject 1ml into each point. After one time treatment, pain is reduced; after three times, pain is disappeared; pain never repeatedly happens in the following five years.
Discussion: Herbal injection into points has good effect, safe and easy to apply, for the treatment of 336 cases of chronic pain on back, lumbar region and joints, cured rate is 40%, obvious effective rate is 27.2%, total effective rate is 96.1%, effective rate can be higher if patient takes more treatment.
In TCM theories, chronic pain on back, lumbar region and joints belong to Bi syndrome due to kidney deficiency and invasion of external wind and cold. We should tonify kidney and regulate liver, eliminate wind and cold, promote qi and blood circulation on meridians. Herbal injection into points combines acupuncture with herbs, it is very effective for the treatment.
