Gallbladder Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-tendon of long extensor muscle of toes-lateral side of tendon of short extensor muscle of toes-4th dorsal interosseous muscle-3rd plantar interosseous muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the intemediate dorsal cutaneous nerve of the foot, the venous network of the dorsum of the foot and the dorsal metatarsal artery and vein. In the deep layer, there ate the common digital plantar nerve and the common digital plantar artery and vein.


Location:
Sit upright, hang down one`s shanks with feet touching the ground; in the depression on the medial side of the 5th musculus extensor digitorum longus, between the 4th and the 5th metatarsal bone on the dorsum of foot.
Function:
Removing heat from the liver and gallbladder, and relaxing rigidity of muscles and removing obstruction in the collaterals.


Indications:
Pain in the canthus, tinnitus, distending pain in the brest, and swelling and pain in the dorsum of foot.


Prescription:
Combined use with TinghuiGB2 (Tinghui (GB2)) for treatment of deafness and tinnitus; and with RugenST18 (Rugen (ST18)) for treatment of galactozemia.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly to 0.3-0.5 cun depth; needling response: local sensation of numbness and distention; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
