Triple Energizer (San Jiao) Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-extensor muscle of little finger and ulnar extensor muscle of wrist-long abductor and extensor muscle of thumb.
In the superficial layer, there are the posterior cutaneous nerve of the forearm and the tributaries of the cephalic and basilic veins. In the deep layer, there are the posterior interosseous artery and vein ane the posterior interosseous nerve.


Location:
Strech the arm, pronate the palm; 7 cun directly above the midpoint of the dorsal stria of the wrist, between ulna and radius.
Function:
Improving hearing, and removing intense heat from the throat.


Indications:
Migraine, deafness, toothache, paralysis of the upper limbs, neurasthenia, dizziness, nephritis, and laryngitis.


Prescription:
Combined use with TianyouTE16 (Tianyou (TE16)) for treatment of sudden deafness; and with TiantuCV22 (Tiantu (CV22)) for treatment of laryngopharyngitis.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 0.5-1 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension, radiating toward the hand; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
