Kidney Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-anterior sheath of rectus muscle of abdomen-rectus muscle of abdomen.
In the superficial layer, there are the branches or tributaries of the superficial epigastric artery and vein, the anterior cutaneous branches of the anterior branches of the 10th to 12th thoracic nerves and the accompanying arteries and veins. In tne deep layer, there are the branches or tributaries of the inferior epigadtric artery and vein, the muscular branches of the anterior branches of the 10th to 12th thoracic nerves related intercostal arteries and veins.


Location:
Supine position; firstly, locate ShenmenCV5(Shemen (CV5) Front-Mu Point of Sanjiao) 2 cun vertically below umbilicus, then 0.5 cun lateral to ShenmenCV5(CV5).
Function:
Regulating menstruation, inducing diuresis, regulating the flow of qi, and relieving distension.


Indications:
Dysmenorrhea, irregular menstruation, enteritis, hernia, and leucoma.


Prescription:
Combined use with GuanyuanBL26(Guanyuanshu (BL26)) for treatment of dysmenorrhea; with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of enteritis; and with RanguKI2(Rangu (KI2) Ying-Spring Point) for treatment of hydrops.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 1-1.5 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
Note:
Siman (KI14) its related organs include the greater omentum and
the small intestine, etc. in the abdominal cavity.
