Traumatology and Orthopedics

There are 60 cases of knee osteoarthritis which were randomly divided into treatment group and contrast group with 30 cases in each group. Treatment group: Hot Herbal Compresses via self-built prescription. The ingredients: Dang Gui, Chuan Xiong, Chi Shao Yao, ji Xue Teng, Fang Feng, Ai Ye, Wei Ling Xian, Hong Hua, Shen Jin Cao, Tou Gu Cao, Lu Xian Cao, Mu Gua, Ge Gen, Chuan Jiao, Gui Zhi etc. Method: all the herbs are grinded into rough powder, mixed together, immersed into mature vinegar and airproofed, it is putted under low temperature for 12 hours, then it is inserted into gauze bag, heated with microwave. Put the gauze bag on the infected knee, 20 minutes per time, 1 time per day. Massage treatment: the patient takes supination posture, both knees slightly flexure, conducting technique, taking Huang Shi Method, pressing and kneading as the main technique, using thenar eminence for gentle pressing-kneading around knees until feeling hot in the local area, using thenar eminence and root of palm to press-knead on the Quadriceps tendon, both side lateral collateral ligament, the patient changes to prostration posture, thumb press-knead on the starting points of medial and lateral gastrocnemius and soleus muscle until feeling soreness and distention sensation in the local area. As to contrast group, using DEY-1 PC bone hyperplasia treatment instrument. The treatment course of the two groups is 15 days, evaluating the effect after 2 courses. Result: the effective rates are 100% and 66.7% in treatment group and contrast group respectively.
