Spleen Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-base of 1st phalanx.
There are the proper digital plantar nerve of the medial plantar nerve, the superficial venous network and the branches or tributaries of the medial plantar artery and vein.


Location:
Upright sitting with drooping feet or supine position; on the medial side of the great toe, in the depression ahead of the anterior border of the 1st metatarsophalangeal joint, at the dorso-ventral boundary of the foot.
Function:
Strengthening the spleen and stomach, clearing away heat to alleviate pain.


Indications:
Abdominal distension, gastric pain, constipation, febrile diseases with anhidrosis.


Prescription:
Combined use with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of gastritis and enteritis; with NeiguanPC6 (Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point) for treatment of gastrospasm; with FengchiGB20 (Fengchi (GB20)) for treatment ofinfantile convulsion. and with TaibaiSP3 (Taibai(SP3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Primary Point) for treatment of angina pectoris


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 0.2-0.3 cun deep; needling response: local sensation of soreness; moxibustion: using 1-3 moxa-cones, and mild moxibustion for 15 min.
