Selected standard of cases: the patients are diagnosed for diabetes, plus two of the following items can be selected in this group: blood pressure more than or equal to 140/90mmHg; Triglyceride more than or equal to 1.7mmol/L; HDL-C male <0.9mmol/L, female<1.0mmol/L; waistline>90cm, minim albuminuria, urine albumin discharge rate more than or equal to 20μg/min.

There are 40 cases in treatment group, 17 cases in contrast group, and all the cases are in the third phase of TCM diabetes. Treatment method: for the diabetes in early 3rd phase, there is upper jiao excess, and lower jiao deficiency, we use Xiao Ke prescription (self-built prescription, raw Huang Qi, Sheng Di Huang, Shu Di Huang, Shan Yao, Tian Hua Fen, Cang Zhu, Bai Zhu, Huang Jing, Chen Pi), Zhen Gan Xi Feng Tang with modification. Using Xiao Ke prescription combining with Dang Gui Liu Huang Tang with modification if there is yin deficiency and excess of fire. Using Xiao Ke prescription combining with Jin Gui Shen Qi and Wu Tou Tang with modification if there are yin yang both deficiency, liver deficiency during the third phase. Combine with relieving stasis and resolving sputum prescription respectively according to the difference of combination of symptoms of blood stagnation and phlegm-damp in each phase.  Contrast group: metformin+ captopril/ metformin+Bao Shen Kang.

Treatment result: as to treatment group: there are 13 cases with obvious effect, 22 cases with effect, 5 case without effect (it contains the treatment that no more than 3 weeks). As for contrast group: there are 4 cases with evident effect, 10 cases with effect, 3 cases without effect. There are significant differences between the effective rates in the two groups (P<0.01).
