Internal Medicine

All of these 34 cases have history of chronic frequent and urgent urination. The disease lasts for more than half year, and is mainly characterized by dribbling urination when attacked by cold or overstrain. The test of urine shows traceofalbumin or leucocyte, or unvaried. Principle of treatment: tonify kidney to receive respiratory qi, control urine and stop dribbling. Main prescription: Han Lian Cao, Sang Shen Zi, Shan Zhu Yu, Du Zhong, Xu Duan, Sang Ji Sheng, Rou Gui, Xiao Hui Xiang, Ju He, Li Zhi He, Wu Yao, Ji Nei Jin, Lu Jiao Shuang, Bai Jiang Cao and Tu Fu Ling. Modification: add Shu Di Huang, Huang Bai and Zhi Mu for kidney yin deficiency such as lingering lumbago, feverish sensation on five centers, red tongue with scanty coating, thread and rapid pulse; add Fu Zi and Tu Si Zi for kidney yang deficiency such as pale face, cold sensation on four limbs, soreness and weakness on lumber region and knee joint, clear and profuse urination, deep and thready pulse; add Lian Zi Xin, Ren Shen, Sheng Huang Qi and Mai Men Dong for qi and yin deficiency caused by over thinking and overstrain, manifested with hesitant or difficult urination, palpitation, short breathing, insomnia with dreams disturbed and fatigue; add Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang for spleen deficiency manifested by overstrain, distention on lower abdomen, difficult or dribbling urination, lazy speech and fatigue.


Treatments of all of these 34 cases are effective; 26 of them are cured (clinical syndromes disappear, urinary test turns negative without recurrence after half year followed-up) and 8 cases are markedly effective (clinical syndromes disappear, urinary test improved, the disease recurs when overstrain comes, the disease is improved after taking this drug).
