The author have treated 6 cases of cestodiasis by self-made Qu Tao Tang, and received good effects. Diagnosis standards: (1) History of taking unclean food. (2) Have abdominal pain, marasmus and poor appetite, etc. (3) Detect proglottid in stools.


Treatments: prescription: Da Huang 50~80g, Bing Lang 80~120g, Wu Mei 20g and Shu Jiao 15g. The drugs above are soaked for more than 30 minutes. Da Huang is decocted later. Add water until the other 3 drugs are about 2 cm underwater; decoct them by mild fire for 30 minutes, then add Da Huang and decoct together for 15 minutes. Take out the decoction and decoct twice again by the method above. 300ml decoction is taken out in total, and is taken with an empty stomach in morning and evening. Generally speaking, the patients will desire to defecate in 15 minutes after taking drugs. Let defecate go with the flow and the whole polypides can be discharged in 2~4 minutes.


Discussion: Bing Lang has strong function of paralyzing pork tapeworms and increasing peristalsis to improve discharging paralyzed tapeworms. Da Huang has the function of clearing up stagnated foods in intestine and stomach in order to assist Bing Lang in discharging worms. Wu Mei has the function of stabilizing roundworms and is tried out to assist Bing Lang in paralyzing polypides. Shu Jiao, pungent in nature, characterizes the paralyzing polypides and killing parasites functions.
