41 cases of pregnancy diagnosed 4 subtypes of blood stasis as below, were treated by the method of invigorating blood and remove stasis in accordance with diagnostic types.


1. Qi stagnant
Treatment was aimed at promoting the flow of qi and invigorating blood circulation to prevent miscarriage, using Chai Hu, Xiang Fu, Xiang Yuan, Chuan Xiong, Yu Jin, Chi Shao, Bai Shao, Dang Gui,, Fu Ling, Shan Zha, and Gan Cao.


2. Qi deficient
The treatment was aimed at replenishing qi and invigorating blood to prevent miscarriage, using Huang Qi, Bai Zhu, Shan Yao, Yi Mu Cao, Ze Lan , Dang Gui, ji Xue Teng, Tu Si Zi, and Gan Cao.


3. Cold condensing which suffering from womb leak
The treatment was aimed at dispelling pernicious cold and activating the blood to prevent abortion, using Gui Zhi, Xiao Hui Xiang, Ai Ye, Hong Hua, Chuan Xiong, Dang Gui, Pu Huang, Bai Zhu, and Gan Cao.


4. Blood stasis due to accumulate heat
The treatment was aimed at cleaning heat and activating the blood to prevent abortion, using Huang Qin, Sheng Di Huang, Mai Men Dong, Chi Shao, Bai Shao, Dan Shen, Yi Mu Cao, Qian Cao, Shan Yao, and Gan Cao.


The treatment proved effective in 34 cases, the effectiveness rate reaching 82.9%, with no significant differences either between threatened and habitual abortions or among the groups. The treatment resulted in varying degrees of improvement in blood rheology and the level of serum human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). Follow-up examination of 28 patients who had favorably reacted to the treatment and their pregnancy had ended in normal deliveries, revealed that none of the newborns significantly differed from the normal.
