108 Cases on Treatment of Acute and Chronic Lumbar Pain given by Point PressingPosted by: admin on May 13, 2008 - 05:53 AM
There are 108 lumbar pain patients including 82 acute cases and 26 chronic cases. 82 cases’s straight-leg raising tests shows positive result, 26 cases’s cough impact tests shows positive result. 18 cases were diagnosed as lumbar osseous hyperplasia by X-ray, 3 cases were diagnosed as protrusion of lumbar disks by CT (1 moderate case and 2 severe cases). Treatment method: relaxing operation: patient takes prostrate position, the operator uses finger-pressing on both Yinmen (BL37), Weizhong (BL40) He-Sea Point, Lower Confluent Point, Chengshan (BL57) for 8-12 times respectively, the press strength should be acceptable by the patient. Then we use finer-kneading on patient’s lumbar region from superficial to deep up to down for 5-6 times. Palm holding and lifting from up to down for 5-6 times out and home, then uses rolling manipulation rolling-kneading on lumbar region from gently to weightily in order to relaxing the patient’s lumbar muscles adequately. Point pressing treatment: the patient takes supine position, the operator searches the positive points (one or some painful points with callosity) near both BL57 on the patient’s crus, afterwards, finger-pressing on each painful point for 3-6 times with both thumbs superposition, exerts interior qi pressing on positive points forcibly fleetly, the press strength should be acceptable by the patient, after pressing, palm kneading gently on crus.
Treatment course: 1 time manipulation per day, 5 times are 1 course. The operator should suggest the patient to relax the whole body during the treatment, the manipulation of the operator should be correct. Treatment result: 86 cases be cured (79.6%), 12 cases achieved obvious effect (11.1%), 8 cases were effective (7.4%), 2 cases were no effective (1.9%); total effective rate is 98.1%. The 82 cases of acute lumbar pain were cured after one treatment course, and for the 26 cases of chronic lumbar pain, 4 cases were cured, 12 cases achieved obvious effect, 8 cases were effective, 2 cases were no effective.
