Internal Medicine
Insomnia is caused by yang excess and yin deficiency, imbalance of yin and yang, disturbance of defensive qi, dysfunction of yin qiao and yang qiao meridians.

Treatment method: we apply primary points including Shenmai (BL62) The Eight Confluent Point and Zhaohai (KI6) The Eihgt Confluent Point with insertion along lower border of heel bone and depth of 1.2 cun, we perform reinforcing method by rotation on KI6 and reducing method by rotation on BL62 after arrival of qi, secondary points are chosen according to differentiations: we add Xinshu (BL15) and Shenshu (BL23) for disharmony between heart and kidney; we add BL15 and Pishu (BL20) for spleen and heart deficiency; we add Taichong (LR3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point and Gongsun (SP4) Luo-Connecting Point, The Eight Confluent Point for fire due to liver qi stagnation; we add Fenglong (ST40) Luo-Connecting Point and Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point for phlegm and heat, we apply reducing method by rotation on SP4, LR3, ST40 and ST36; we use even method on BL15, BL 20 and BL23, retaining of needles are 30 minutes, treatment is done every day and 10 times of treatment will be one course.

Total effective rate is 93.3%.
