Gallbladder Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-epicranial aponeurosis.
There are the lesser occipital nerves and the branches of the posterior auricular artery and vein in this area.


Location:
Sit upright or lie prostrate on one's side; firstly, locate TianchongGB9(Tianchong (GB9)), WanguGB12(Wangu (GB12)), juncture of intermediate 1/3 and lower 1/3 of the curve conncting this two points and parallel to the auricle.
Function:
Refreshing oneself and improving hearing, clearing heat and dissolving lumps.


Indications:
Pain of the head and neck, tinnitus, deafness, and pain in the chest.


Prescription:
Combined use with TinghuiGB2 (Tinghui (GB2)) for treatment of deafness and tinnitus; with HeguLI4 (Hegu (LI4) Yuan-Source Point) for treatment of tonsillitis; and with QiangjianGV18 (Qiangjian (GV18)) for treatment of headache.


Methods:
Insert the needle subcutaneously to 0.3-0.8; needling response: local numbness and distention; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
