The Experience on the Treatment of Acute Hepatitis with Jaundice [1]

The author did differentiations and treated 566 cases of acute hepatitis with Jaundice on damp, heat, toxin and stasis in many years' clinical practices. Treatment: modification of Yin Chen Hao [3] Tang. Prescription: Yin Chen Hao, Zhi Zi [4], Da Huang [5], Huang Bai [6], Ban Lan Gen [7], Dang Shen [8], Fu Ling [9], Chai Hu [10], Mu Xiang [11], Ban Xia [12], Zhi Ke and Sheng Jiang [13]. Add Hou Pu and Sha Ren [14] for distension of chest and stomach; add Ban Zhi Lian and increase the dose of Da Huang for excess of heat and stasis; add Pei Lan [15] and Yi Yi Ren [16] for thick and sticky tongue coating due to excess of damp.

Results: jaundice disappears, diet gets normal and liver function test shows normal without recrudescence in one-year follow-up survey. The clinical symptoms disappear in 12 days at least, 28 days at most and 15 days on average. It cures in 16 days at least, 32 days at most and 24 days on average.
