Urine Bladder Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-latissimus muscle of back-inferior posterior serratus muscle-erector spinal muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the cutaneous branches of the posterior branches of the 11th and 12th thoracic nerves and the accompanying ateries and vein, In the deep layer, there are the muscular branches of the posterior branches of the 11th and 12th thoracic nerves and the branches or tributaries of the dorsal branches of the related posterior intercostal arteries and veins.


Location:
Lie pronely; at the level of the lower border of spinous process of the 11th thoracic vertebra, 3 cun apart from JizhongGV6(Jizhong (GV6)) laterally.
Function:
Strengthening the spleen and stomach, and eliminating dampness and heat.


Indications:
Indigestion, diabetes, gastric dialatation, spasm in the straight muscle of abdomen, hepatitis, pleuritis, esophagostenosis, and muscular rheumatosis.


Prescription:
Combined use with HuantiaoGB30 (Huantiao (GB30 )) for treatment of progressive myodystrophy; with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of enteritis, and intestinal dysfunction; and with ShenshuBL23 (Shenshu (BL23)), SanyinjiaoSP6 (Sanyinjiao (SP6)) for the treatment of diabetes.


Methods:
Insert the needle obliquely, 0.5-0.8 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension; moxibustion: using 3-7 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
Note:
Don`t puncture deeply, or else the neesle would penetrate the external intercostal muscle-the internal intercostal muscle-the costal pleura-the costodiaphragmatic recess-the diaphragmatic pleura-the diaphragm-the parietal peritoneum-the peritoneal cavity-the visceral peritoneum and the right lobe of liver ( on right ) or spleen ( on left ) by its tip, and injure the liver or
the spleen.
