Ancient physicians had various opinions for etiology and pathology of refractory oral ulcer, but mostly fire and heat, yin deficiency, they applied methods to clear heat, eliminate toxicity, reduce fire, nourish yin, activate blood, stop pain, these methods could treat but the disease was easily reoccurred and the treatment was more difficult. The writer thinks that warming yang, tonifying earth and bend over fire are quite important. Qian Yang Dan, a herbal formular originated from Yi Li Zhen Zhuan written by Qinan Zheng in Qing Dynasty, the ingredients have Sha Ren, Fu Zi, Gui Ban, Bie Jia, Gan Cao. Feng Sui Dan includes Huang Bai, Sha Ren, Gan Cao. Therefore, Combination of Qian Yang Dan and Feng Sui Dan with herbs to stop symptoms can obtain effective result to treat refractory oral ulcer.
