When we talk about the exterior and interior of six meridians differentiation, in general Taiyang belongs to exterior and the others belong to interior. However, the exterior and interior are relative. For example: the three yangs belong to exterior; the three yins belong to interior. Or Yangming illness belongs to exterior; Taiyin illness belongs to interior. When we give the treatment to Taiyang exterior syndrome, we relieve exterior by diaphoresis; when we give the treatment to Yangming interior syndrome, we clean or purge interior excess.
