Nei Jing

The blood vessels are the house of the blood. If the pulse is long, the qi is normal. If the pulse is short, the qi is ill. If the pulse is rapid, there is vexation. If the pulse is big, the disease is being exacerbated. If the upper pulses are exuberant, there are panting and fullness. If the lower pulses are exuberant, there is abdominal distention. If the pulse is regularly interrupted, it indicates the feeble qi of zang-organs. If the pulse is thread, the qi is scant. If the pulse is uneven, it is a painful heart. If the pulse comes like a rushing spring, the disease is critical and the patient’s color becomes lifeless. If the pulse leaves faintly like a broken string, it is fatal.
