Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is one common microvascular complications of diabetes (DM). DN-induced the end-stage of renal failure (ESRD) is becoming a threat to the lives of the main reasons for patients with DM. Through the application of Ⅲ - Ⅳ stage 43 cases of DV patients by Dong Chong Xia Cao, the clinical observation shows that it can effectively reduce proteinuria, improve nutritional status, and delay the progress of renal failure, and has clear protective effect to kidneys. There are 30 cases in stage Ⅲ, 13 cases in stage Ⅳ among the 43 cases. Treatment methods: All patients were asked to strictly control a diet, exercise, blood glucose, blood pressure and so on. On the basis of oral hypoglycemic agents or insulin injections, I give them Jin Shui Bao (Dong Chong Xia Cao preparations) 8 pills each time, 3 times per day, 3 months treatment as one course. Review urinary protein (MAU), other items of urine and renal function (BUN, Cr) and so on three months later. Results: The improvement rate is 93%.
