1. Abnormal density and volume of sperm
when sperm density is less than 20 × 10 6/ml, it will be considered to oligospermia. Sometimes a normal sperm count with a very small semen volume, can cause the drop of total number; or even the total number of sperm is normal, as a result of too much semen volume will cause decreased sperm density. Both of them are oligospermia. Oligospermia and azoospermia belong to kidney essence deficiency in TCM. The herbal treatment is going to use Ren Shen, Ci Wu Jia, She Chuang Zi, Tu Si Zi and so on.
2. Abnormal sperm viability and vitality
the normal sperm activity rate should be at least more than 60% in 30-60 min after ejaculation. There are 5 ranks of sperm motility in general classification system. Kidney yang is the driving force of the sperm activity. Clinical herbal treatment can use those herbs for abnormal density and volume of sperm, plus Lu Rong, Hai Ma, Xiao Hui Xiang, Fu Zi, Ba Ji Tian etc to tonify kidney and strengthen yang.
3. Abnormal sperm morphology
generally greater than 30 percent of sperm malformation can affect fertility. Clinical herbal treatment can apply the prescription for abnormal density and volume of sperm, then plus tonifying liver and kidney, nourishing essence and blood herbs: He Shou Wu, Shu Di Huang, Mai Men Dong.
