The eyes are the gather place of the essence of five zang-organs and six fu-organs, are an operating place of yin soul, yang soul, as well as ying and wei. The spirit qi can be found through eyes. So when the person’s spirit is overstraining, yin soul and yang soul will be dispersive, then volitional confusion. Because the pupil and colored part in the eye belong to yin, they are lead by liver and kidney essences; the white part and red capillaries in the eye belong to yang, they are lead by heart and lungs essences. Eyes are controlled by heart and spirit. So gathering the meridians’ yin-yang qi will cause the bright eyes. The heart control spirit and thought activities. So if the heart spirit is in disorder, meridians’ yin-yang qi will not be able to gather.
